El p\u00e9ptido Ang-(1-9) tiene un efecto anti hipertr\u00f3fico en cardiomiocitos, sin embargo, este mecanismo es a\u00fan desconocido. En el presente estudio, en el cual particip\u00f3 la investigadora titular de CENDHY, Dra. Mar\u00eda Paz Ocaranza, en colaboraci\u00f3n con investigadores del Centro Avanzado de Enfermedades Cr\u00f3nicas (ACCDiS) al cual la investigadora tambi\u00e9n pertenece, se fij\u00f3 como objetivo elucidar el mecanismo por el cual el p\u00e9ptido Ang-(1-9) ejerce su efecto sobre las c\u00e9lulas card\u00edacas. Como punto de partida utilizaron estudios previos que demostraron la relaci\u00f3n entre cambios en la morfolog\u00eda de las mitocondrias y el uso de calcio, eventos asociados al inicio de la hipertrofia card\u00edaca. El primer hito fue establecer que Ang-(1-9) es capaz de inducir la fusi\u00f3n de mitocondrias a trav\u00e9s de la fosforilaci\u00f3n de DRP1. Luego, el p\u00e9ptido bloquea la fisi\u00f3n mitocondrial y la desregulaci\u00f3n de calcio intracelular, lo que previene la activaci\u00f3n de la v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n calcineurina\/NFAT. Para ahondar en el mecanismo, los investigadores realizaron estudios de RNA-seq, identificando la regulaci\u00f3n positiva de miR-129 bajo tratamiento con Ang-(1\u20139). La producci\u00f3n aumentada de miR-129 disminuy\u00f3 los niveles de transcrito de PKIA, lo que result\u00f3 en la activaci\u00f3n de la v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna kinasa A (PKA).
