Hemos reportado previamente que ASX protege a las neuronas del efecto da\u00f1ino de olig\u00f3meros \u03b2-amiloide, que promueven la producci\u00f3n excesiva de especies reactivas de ox\u00edgeno\u00a0 mitocondriales (mROS), induciendo un incremento sostenido de la concentraci\u00f3n de i\u00f3n calcio citopl\u00e1smica. Por esta raz\u00f3n, ASX es un agente terap\u00e9utico promisorio en contra de condiciones patol\u00f3gicas que implican desregulaci\u00f3n de calcio y oxidaci\u00f3n. En este trabajo, el equipo de investigadores, que incluy\u00f3 al Dr. Felipe Oyarz\u00fan-Ampuero, investigador asociado de CENDHY, estudiaron si ASX protege a las neuronas del da\u00f1o inducido por (NMDA), que promueve una producci\u00f3n excesiva de mROS. Para ello emplearon la l\u00ednea celular neuronal SH-SY5Y y neuronas del hipocampo primario.
